Loyal Dining

Perhaps it’s the ongoing Wong Kar Wai effect, but it seems that the aura of 1960s Hong Kong is in vogue. More likely, it’s probably the fact that Hong Kong’s baby boom generation came of age during this time and is now gripped with a sense of nostalgia for the relative simplicity of the Hong Kong of days gone by.

Witness the success last year of Alex Law’s “Echoes of the Rainbow”—filmed on location on Wing Lee Street in Sheung Wan—and the resulting kerfuffle over the preservation of the tenements portrayed in the film, and it is apparent that memories of the ‘60s are alive and well in Hong Kong.
