Petite Amanda is a new patisserie in IFC owned by former Hong Kong model Amanda Strang.
The celebrity's name alone is enough to draw a queue of patient customers at 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. each day -- the delivery times for the pastries.
Strang quit her modelling career to enroll at Le Cordon Bleu and she has interned at Caprice and Ladurée as well as with Jacques Genin. She's paid her dues and there's no doubt that she can put together a classic French pastry the way you're meant to. But that doesn't mean the pastries are out-of-this-world.
